The POD is moving back the death of Antonin Scalia seven years. He passes away on Febuary 28th 2009. President Obama appoints Somia Sotomeyer and she is easily confirmed by the Senate. After the end of the Supreme Court's term in June 2009, David Souter retires and is replaced by Elena Kagan. In the 2010 Citizen Untied case, Justices Stevens, Ginsberg, Bryer, Sotomeyer and Kagan sign a decision that upholds restrictions on corparate political spending. After the end of the 2010 term John Paul Stevens retires and Diane Wood takes his place. In 2014, Justices Ginsberg, Breyer, Sotomeyer, Kagan and Wood agree in the Hoobby Lobby case that the corparation is required to follow the contraception mandate. In 2015's Obergefell vs Hodges, Justices Kennedy, Ginsberg, Breyer, Sotomeyer, Kagen and Wood over rule all laws banning same sex marriage. 2016 saw the liberal majority approves the decision that requires union non members pay fees to the union to cover the costs of collective bargaining, They also sustain President Obama's executive order protecting people brought to the country illegally as young children,

Republicans would have tried to block some of the nominees but democrats still had control of Senate early on.
Souter might have tried to stay one more year if Scalia died.
Balance on court would shift for years to a more liberal bench

I forgot the Supreme Court reaffirms the Voting Rights Act in 2013.

Another possible PoD is that Scalia dies a year later, which is probably more plausible. If he died this year rather than last year, Hillary would likely have won. The election was very close, decided by margins of 0.76% or less in three key states. Without the Supreme Court vacancy, Republicans would have been more reluctant to rally around Trump, and Trump would not have done better with white evangelicals than George W Bush. Therefore, Hillary Clinton would have won a narrow victory(278 EV to Trump's 260), and then when Scalia dies she would be able to nominate a replacement to him, as Republicans would not have an excuse to block the nominee and she would be in a strong political position. Or alternatively, you know, she wins the election, which is as simple as Anthony Weiner having half a brain and not sexting a teenager when he had already been twice caught out and humiliated(ASB I know), so no Comey letter, and then nominating a replacement to Scalia.
