I'm interested to know what would have happened had the Japanese emperors been involved in all those European monarchs marrying each other (like how Kaiser Wilhelm & Czar nicholas II etc. were cousins) and/or been involved in the scramble for Africa. I think possible PoD for them to be seen as European enough to do at least 1 of those things would be if one of the Japanese emperors (or possibly empress but idk of any) married and had an heir with an Ainu. Or conquering a part of Siberia (before the Russians ofc) and having an heir with a more west Eurasian-looking ethnic group that's there.

Not going to happen, European royals would not marry into the Japanese Imperial family and the Japanese Imperial family being considered at that time time Descent from the gods are not going to marry into European royals.

Do you think it's possible that Japan could be involved in the scramble for Africa?

Do you think it's possible that Japan could be involved in the scramble for Africa? Not needed, they where focused on their own region. Nothing to gain for them in Africa.

Aren't parts of Africa full of natural resources Germany got the left overs after The United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Portugal and Italy had divided the continent, so you think they let a Asian country get a piece who couple of years was closed to the outside world, do not think so.

Maybe if they helped ''liberate'' (liberate as in what the entente would see as liberate, but in reality would just be re-occupying) parts of German east africa in ww1 they could get some of it as a result of the spoils of war. Possibly if that happened after the PoD I mentioned, could it have happened? Or if Italy remained a central power and the Japanese helped the entente fight Italy out of Somaliland they could get some of it?

If the Japanese (including the imperial family) realized they weren't the descendants of God (possible PoD for this happening in time to intermarry with a european royal family is someone from the royal family dies young from that syphilis outbreak that happened either right before the victorian age or at it's beginning) would it still be ASB in combination with the PoD in my OP?

Think this will be my last post in this thread, tried my best. You think the Japanese Imperial Family is going to give up several thousand years of being worshiped, just to marry into European royalty, do not think so, World War 2 was needed to end it, doubt they going to end it to be married with Europeans who will in thier eyes pollute the imperial bloodline.

But would the Japanese even want to? Recently I remembered "The Difference Engine" where there was a Japanese faction who suggested that they might give up their culture, to adopt the western one instead. I don't know how realistic that is...

where there was a Japanese faction who suggested that they might give up their culture, to adopt the western one instead This was a real world proposal/faction, but it did not get too far. You get a Japan that starts to convert to Catholicism (possibly later turning Protestant or 'Japanican') in the 1500s and 1600s and being super entwined with European diplomacy over Asia and the Americas, and it is powerful actor - intermarriages and the like could start happening by the 1700s or even a little earlier.

If the Congolese and Indonesian Royal families under Portuguese suzerainty did not marry into Portugal when they are subordinate to Portugal in the past, why would the Japanese marry into the European Royal families.
