Yes, and when the war is over the Dutch are of course getting paid handsomely for it. So the Dutch Commonwealth never did a Destroyers for Bases Agreement with Germany like the United States did with the United Kingdom in OTL. It was a Destroyers for a Carrier agreement instead because right after the disaster at Formosa, the Dutch needed more carriers so they requested to lease the Graf Zeppelin from Germany in Exchange for fourty destroyers. The Zeppo was swiftly renamed to the Batavia, assigened the hull number VS-18 and sent to Java. |
