Perhaps a Union of South Africa that broke from Britain? Perhaps a more aggressive Ethiopia or Egypt opposed to the West? I think a south Africa who rules a large part of Africa is more likely than a aggressive Ethiopia or Egypt. I can see that, but they'd need the support of European elites in African colonies. |

We could have the boers win the Second Boer War, expand by joining the Allied Powers in the Great War and taking over German Africa (German South West Africa), somehow getting control of Portugal colonies of Angola and Mozambique (maybe during the 28 May Revolution of 1926 when they invade under the pretext of what ever they come up with) join the Allies during world war 2 and taking over some part of French Africa and Belgian Congo which will latter result in tensions between them and the United nation lead by the United States resulting in the 36-Hour War of 1948. |

Not just them maintaining their independence and possibly expelling a lot of the Anglos from their republics but actually somehow conquering most of S Africa and holding it. |
