It had do something with Mao refusing to follow Stalin's version of communism. Mao saw Stalin as a hypocritical imperialist while Stalin saw Mao as a stubborn revisionist.
Ah this might have been something to do with Mao's use of the peasantry as the basis for his 'revolution' whereas Stalin repeatedly argued for Marx's teaching that the revolution would come from the urban proletariat. Of course in Russia it came largely from a small group largely of well educated intellectuals. Mao's option obviously did kind of work in the late 40's but whether Stalin ever admitted that I'm not sure.

Been following the ATL and your comments Friends. As usual the discussion is both informative and entertaining. I need all the entertaining I can get these days! I do not stray into my country's local politics when in Lordroel's place of friendship and thought. However, this ATL and your replies, especially the phrase " educated intellectuals" struck me as all too close to what I am seeing on USA Ivy League Campuses today. IMO, we will be very, very lucky if we doing not see blood in the streets before this Basket screw is over. No-one need comment. I just had to put it into words.

Senior Chief, nice you want to respond to a thread but it will raise attention when somebody responds to a thread that is consider a Extreme Old thread, so in the future if there is no substantial new contribution made in that thread, such as to extend a timeline, otherwise make a new thread under the same name but add a "II" or next available Roman Numeral to the thread title ore PM a mod if it is okay to post in it.

The author team is impressive, just saying. I mean, they include Arthur Koestler and Walter Winchell (the latter even appears as a POTUS candidate in Philip Roth's AH The Plot Against America!).
