Unless WW II takes a dramatic turn then OTL i see no real reason why the US should get the Azores. Neither can I, frankly.

And the Azores Islands can be used to plug in the Mediterranean shut for any Soviet submarine, but it seems the US has a base on the Azores Islands.

I was thinking and it is in the ASB section, what if Germany bought the Azores Islands as payment for aiding the winning side in lets say after the Portuguese civil War broke out which latter joined with the Spanish Civil War resulting in the Great iberia War, Germany build the Azores Islands up to a large base like the Channel islands before in 1942 it is invaded by the United States-United kingdom.
