To dress the skeleton a little:
Have been looking a little into the situation of Weimar Germany in 1923.
The Reichswehr consisting of the Reichsheer and Reichsmarine was in need of a reserve the Reichsheer mostly so and would have a easier time of building such than the Reichsmarine.
Following the initial unrest from 1919 with rightwing and leftwing putsches now and then which was suppressed by the Reichsheer and Freikorps a Black Reichswehr was created during 1921 of various Freikorps and other para-military units such as SA to form its readily available reserve.
However this Black Reichswehr was also an incontrollable mass which by the January 1923 French – Belgian occupation of the Ruhr industrial area hatched plans to overthrow Government.
Because of these plans such as an uprising in the Ruhr should Government decide to end passive resistance to the French – Belgian occupation which happened by September 1923 though no plans were carried out.
This situation continued untill 1 October 1923 when Major Buchrucher of the Wehrkreis 3/Berlin, commander of the Garrison at Cottbus had attempted a coup when he had learned of the decision of disbanding the Black Reichswehr on 30 September 1923. Buchrucher was wanted and tried raise his command to topple Government in the process trying to get the Garrison of Küstrin Fortress to join his cause which the Commander rejected and with the arrival of Reichwehr units the attempt was foiled by these firing af Buchruckers men and Buchrucher arrested and put on trail.
At this time the State of Bavaria declared a state of emergency on 28 September 1923 with the Republic Government following suit declaring a nationwide state of emergency and provided Reichswehr Minister Otto Gessler with executive powers.
During this Adolph Hitler tried pulling off the Beer Hall Putsch during which the Alien Space Bat decided to ISOT the Weimar Republic to 1823.
As news of the situation in Munich had reached Government 8 November 1923 President Ebert transferred the executive powers to Reichwehr Commander Generaloberst v. Seeckt to carry out orders to dismiss General v. Lossow Reichwehr Commander Wehrkreis 7 in Munich.
As the 7 Infantry Division in Munich didn't support the Nazi Coup attempt v. Lossow's being relieved of command wasn't carried out.
Such is the situation as the Weimar Republic arrive in 1823.
During the 9 November Chancellor Stresemann begin receiving information from around the country.
Some of the Nazi leaders and members who took part in the Beer Hall Putsch have vanished.
The inhabitants north of the border with Denmark speak of their Duke King Frederik 6.
On the Saarland border the French manned posts have vanished and the locals speak of the German Confederation.
The French – Belgian occupation troops have vanished from the Ruhr area and Reichwehr troops and Police is moving into the area to investigate the situation.
At ports all non-German steam and oilburner ships have vanished and none in sight.
On the borders the railway tracks have generally vanished on the non-German side and the Polish and Czech border posts vanished the latter replaced by Imperial Austrian ones as is the case along the border with Austria. Some of the Polish borderposts have changed to Imperial Russian but the major part is still missing. Switzerland still being Switzerland so something remains sane. Belgium is gone and the borderposts are Dutch as is the case of Luxembourg. All very annoying.
The telegraph and telephone make internal information travel fast in Weimar Germany but still several hours have gone before the full picture is available to Government. Some bright head in administration brings this forward to his Direktor who passes the information upwards toward Government.
By early evening General v. Lossow of Wehrkreis 7 assure his following orders from Berlin and is able to forward some information on the Nazi Putsch – Adolph Hitler is missing and Nazi Party members is being rounded up around Bavaria.
V. Seeckt tell v. Lossow to keep up the good work and to forward more information about the borders.
State Commissioner of Bavari v. Kahr is also asked to provide information on the situation as is the German states of Saxony, Württemberg and Baden which still retain as Bavaria some limited independence.
Around the turn of midnight the Weimar Government discuss if their proposed presence in 1823 can be right by any means.
Commander of Reichswehr General v. Seectk and chief of Admiralty Vizeadmiral v. Behncke assure Government of their loyalty and steps taken to ensure German sovereignty.
In Imperial Russia, Imperial Austria and Kingdom of France information have only been sent off from the borders with messenger or mail.
Such is also the case in Switzerland, Netherlands and Denmark though here the road is far shorter before information will reach the capital cities and Goverment. Perhaps the fastest will be in Denmark where the postal scooner will travel in the morning with mail for Copenhagen if such have been written during the evening and delivered to mail service else it will be some days there too as the November may be rainy and windy in the Baltic waters.
Britain and Sweden is just as or worse off due to the distance to Germany and sharing no common borders.
Suffice to say the leaders of the World (Europe) will be kept in the dark about this great upheavel for the next few days to a week or two!
