One of the ways to get the U.S into the League would be to have Wilson die early on after the war, and his successor is able to join but with the Lodge Amendment. Do you mean his vice-president Thomas R. Marshall succeeding him as president. One way i think that this could happen if Eric Muenter somehow mange to kill Woodrow Wilson, this set up any German sentiment across the United states which brings the country into war earlier than in OTL.

Guys
As I understand it the big problem with the LoN was that it required unanimity of member states for action. As such a single nation could paralyse it. Hence it couldn't formally oppose say Japanese attacks on Manchuria or Italian in Ethiopia. It had some small early successes, such as in the Aland islands, simply because both Finland and Sweden, the two nations involved were willing to abide by the decision of the League but when this wasn't the case it could do nothing. Unfortunately its existence hence probably increased instability as it provided an excuse for powerful states to do nothing when faced with challenges to the current order, claiming that it was the League's responsibility or that the League couldn't authorise any action against the aggressor simply because the aggressor was a league member.
Hence I think something like the UN, with majority voting but almost inevitably there will be some equivalent of the Security Council with permanent members is the most likely approach that would make a LoN's viable as an effective organisation. This is likely however to change, probably drastically the history of the world in the 30's as there is stronger reaction to the rise of fascism.
To be honest, I think if you have super-powered characters then strictly speaking it is a ASB story, although there's nothing wrong with that. Its just a matter of definition of the category. You might have to flesh out how assorted people's get such powers and what sort of powers they are however. Also it might need to be a fairly recent event less so much of world history would probably be changed beyond recognition.

If you want to have the League of Nations survive, you can have France not fall in 1940. That way, if Britain and France win the war, they could perhaps maintain and reinvigorate the League of Nations instead of creating the United Nations.

Steve If France doesn't fall in 1940, maybe Britain and France can keep the League of Nations but change its rules so that it is easier to get things done in the League of Nations.
