Wouldn't the Homophobia from US and Uganda's 'Kill the Gays' Bill implore Freddy to use his wealth and influence to affect politics and social change?
Would Queen's post-1990s' songs be more Political, Philosophical and more Left-leaning?

As a scenario, this has multiple PoDs, which can be very troublesome.
Frankly, Mercury living would not change much. He was a charismatic, hedonist pop singer without any great profile in politics or social commentary. Some chaps here will remember the 1990s from living through them, which will help. It wasn’t a particularly good time for homosexuals full stop and any hint of it was a kiss of death for politicians. Prime Minister ‘Freddie Mercury’ is arrant foolishness. It is an impossibility.
Here’s the other thing: there was a lot of money and influence being plowed into left leaning social change in the 1990s and 2000s. It did result in backlashes as well as middling results. A reasonable person could draw the conclusion that simply applying the dollar hose doesn’t solve deeper seated issues.
Even for ASB scenarios, you can’t just randomly select a figure and project onto them without a darn good story.
