I'm creating a thread for some eventual writing, a timeline and related articles, some of which are already complete.
I am thinking about additionally putting together a story set during the war in Britain to start at some point this year. If I'm lucky, I'll wrap up another three stories or so in 2022 (touch wood!), opening up the scope for the World War stories/projects and hopefully a bit of time to polish off some other tales I've not worked on for the last ~3 years
It would feature perhaps 4-5 different viewpoints - one up near the top of government to interact on that level, some in the military to get some air, sea and land action and at least two on the home front (one in London and one in a more rural setting that some might take a guess at). I'd like to bring together some of the characters I've introducted in other stories so far as well as fill in the various details and bits and pieces hinted at elsewhere.
I've put a lot of details in other works, particularly the History of the Tank and History of the Aircraft Carrier, of various fronts and operations, as well as a general structure that I'm going to transfer in here.
For each year, I have a detailed orbat of all the great powers, industrial production statistics and economic data. For each month, I have military equipment production and cumulative losses mapped out, derived in part by research on Hyperwar, where there is a lot of great stuff on US and British war production.
It lies within the notion of Dark Earth not as a specific one-sided story, but as an illustration of how many countries do better than in @. Above all, though, World War Two is a tragedy.
So:
1.) What information would people want on the background, course and details of WW2?
2.) What areas do you think would be of interest to both the comparatively small DE audience and potentially a larger one?
3.) Any further questions, comments and ideas are welcomed.
