German unification before 1800? You mean dissolving the Holy Roman Empire and making it fully part of the Prussian-Habsburg Empire.

For me it would be strange if Germany did not unify before 1800 Well the Prussian-Habsburg Empire sounds okay to me, but a unified Germany by 1800 is going to make a lot if its neighbors nervous, maybe we even see a war called the War of German Unification happening.

We need someone with good knowledge of the period to comment on this

As I mentioned the war of the Austrian succession is going to be different as your very likely going to have Austria-Prussia against probably everybody else. Plus if the couple only marry in 1740, i.e. just as the old emperor dies there could be unrest in the Hapsburg empire. OTL Maria was able to gain the support of the Magyar aristocrats in Hungary among other groups but a lot would depend on how they and other see the relationship between the couple.
One point to note is that in a long war and with the Netherlands declining as a fiscal centre France and Britain are the fiscal titans. Austria-Prussia could have issues funding a long war, which might be their Achilles heel.
