I suppose one way this could happen is minimal or no American involvement in Vietnam, allowing the PRC/USSR to attempt to spread Communism to other Southeast Asian countries, or perhaps they attempt to convert the Philippines to Communism rather then Vietnam. ASB it is, but this is the only thing I can think of: The U.S. just leaves the Philippines on its own after July 4, 1946 without the military bases. |

I think Joma's People's Republic would last at most 2 years.
The NPA even if they could steal armored vehicles and APCs never fielded armored vehicles. One reason why ISIS got that big is that they managed to get the Iraqi tanks. Even the Chinese Communists, the Castroist Cubans, and the Khmer Rouge for their part saw captured armored vehicles as extra firepower.

Just like ISIS, all these captured armored vehicles would run out of fuel and the NPA are not trained to operate it. |
