Erik the Red and Viking Greenland - episode - 44
Well he's a bit inaccurate in that by Erik's time the Vikings were largely settling down as by far the largest Viking attacks on England, by the Danish king Swain and then his son Canute came from about 980 onward and Canute then later conquered Norway as well.
According to Jarad Diamond's Collapse the failure of Norse Greenland was due to a combination of two factors. There worsening climate during the Little Ice Age and a unwillingness to adapt. For instance they seem to have solidified on a very European culture, seeking to raise pigs, horses and sheep and planing European crops despite those becoming increasingly impractical. They refused to learn from the Inuit who were coming down from further north and live off animals such as walrus and even, which seems strange for Vikings, to eat fish, which was a massive disadvantage given the huge fisheries in the region. IIRC as a while since I read it the problem seems to have been a pretty strict version of Christianity became dominant which rejected any different styles and ideas so they were trying to use European style housing, crops etc in an increasingly invalid country.

The Great Sicily Earthquake of 1693 - episode - 45
Very nasty. He was describing the damage from the quake and I was thinking, gods this is bad, then he continued 'that wasn't the earthquake, that was a for-shock!' Never heard of this event before but devastating for the island and its people.

1958 Mars Bluff Nuclear Bomb Incident - episode - 46
It sounds like the USAF didn't like Georgia. Two bombing attacks in a month. Good job the fission component wasn't in place else there would have been a lot of fatalities, even for a rural area. As we as one hell of a s**t-storm. The Greg's were very lucky no one was more seriously hurt, or even killed and I can understand Walter being angry they never got proper compensation.
Nowadays as the article says nuclear devices, at least in the west and hopefully elsewhere, are one-point safe, which means an accident like this can't detonate the explosives, although it might not be proof against a 15,000' drop as that would be a hell of a shock to the explosive.
