United Flight 93 was hi-jacked on 9-11 and deliberately crashed by the terrorists aboard after a passenger rebellion aboard. What if the passengers on the place were successful and retook the plane? Does this change anything significant about 9-11 and the aftermath?

Does this change anything significant about 9-11 and the aftermath? Then the question would be, could somebody fly the plane and would it still not be shot down in all the chocs that happen on 9/11.

That last might be an issue given the uncertainty and the fear that its a bluff by the highjackers. Not sure if the original aircrew had been killed by the hi-jackers so if one or more of them survived a successful recapture of the plane in decent condition that should be OK. If not it could be awkward but once the passengers persuaded the people on the ground they were genuine I would expect they would have someone capable of being able to be talked down in the pilot's chair.
Other than that a number of the OTL 11-9-01 victims, those on that plane survive, which is good for them and their families it probably wouldn't make a massive difference. Unless one of those people ends up becoming a significant figure in future events. Either via being say someone who becomes say a leader in technology, culture or something like that by nature of their personality or possibly becoming say a political figure as a result of their role in recapturing the aircraft. Or again in the longer term if most of those people on the plane live then over the following decades a lot of different people are going to be born, get married, link up in careers say and others who won't as a result.

It seems to me this man likely would be hailed as a hero and urged to run for office. His catchphrase became a rallying cry for Iraqi War supporters. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Todd_Beamer

Its a possibility if he survived. Sounds like he would be the sort of person who would make an attractive figure in the aftermath of the attacks and then if he was interested in a political career and avoided serious problems could well have some success.

Well just checking only one person was killed in the initial hi-jacking so it would depend on how things went. Suspects its unlikely they could take the plane back without damage and probably some deaths but likely to be some flight crew surviving. Even if all of them were killed there might be someone with flying experience or simply with enough technical knowledge and/or good reflexes provided the plane is in decent conditions and the passengers can persuade the authorities on the ground that they have regained control and to help talk them down to a landing.

Still i believe with all the chaos that is going on on 9/11, even if a passenger manged to take control of Flight 93, i fear that the US government still will shoot it down, the risk is to great, they cannot 100 % verify that the plane is no longer being hijacked.

That is a definite danger, especially in the panic and paranoia that the US is likely to feel in the aftermath of the other attacks. Although the mobile communications and the desire of the plane to land - possibly being directed to a location away from any targets might help. As would possibly any surviving aircrew being able to vouch for the events, although they would need to persuade those on the ground that their not talking at gunpoint.

Ore the terrorist faking to be passengers who have retaken the plane.

That is the problem with the virtual paranoia in some elements of the US in the aftermath of the attack but then would any American official risk killing a bunch of passengers and crew who had just made themselves heroes by defeating a terrorist group.

Aboard Flight 93 there was a passenger who was a pilot who assured the other passengers he could land the plane if they retook the cockpit. He was ordered by the rest of the passengers to hang back when they rushed the cockpit to avoid any chance of him being injured or killed. He stayed on his phone right up to the end describing events.

If there is someone who can fly a big Boeing like that, probably with help from someone on the ground because that will not be easy, a successful landing of a jet like that would be massive. It would change the whole face of 9/11.
