What are some of the most underused Senate PODs for the US from 1960-1990? I ask because some of these races could've led to big differences in our history : Alabama 1962, Indiana 1962, Florida 1964, Indiana 1964, Nevada 1964, New York 1964, Tennessee 1964, Tennessee 1964 (Special), Texas 1964, Alabama 1966, Delaware 1972, Virginia 1978, Massachusetts 1978 and several others come to mind. List five senate races and tell me why you think it could've changed history.

If Robert Kennedy had not run for senator New York in 1964.he would of not run for president in 68.lf George H had won his 70 Senate race he would have more leveraged come 1980.

Oliver North nearly got elected in 1994 in Virginia, the GOP nearly held the Senate in 1986 which is important given Bork in 1987, and, finally, had either Ted Stevens (Alaska) or Norman Coleman (Minnesota) won their extremely close Senate races in 2008, Obamacare would've been impossible with all that entails for the President's election chances in 2012.

Can't claim credit for it, but it's an interesting scenario:1994 - Ward Connerly defeats Feinstein for California's Senate. 1996 - Alevda King beats Max Cleland in Georgia. 1998 - Ken Blackwell wins the Senate seat in Ohio. 2002 - Tim Scott pulls off an upset on Lindsey Graham in the primary and then wins the general election for Strom Thurmond's old Senate seat in South Carolina. Michael Williams defeats John Cornyn for the GOP nomination and wins a Senate seat in Texas. 2004 - Herman Cain wins Zell Miller's old seat in Georgia, giving the GOP control of both of Georgia's Senate seats with Black Senators. With a very large Black GOP contingent, African Americans are more open to voting to vote for the Republican; the poster speculated up to 20% in 2000 and maybe Bush picks Alevda King as his running mate for 2000.
