'George W. Bush Debates Better In 2004'. Yes, yes, I know he ultimately won even with his subpar debate skills relative to Kerry, even if it was still by small margins in both the popular vote and the Electoral College.

‘President Ron Paul’. I wonder if with some finagling, he could somehow get the Republican nomination in 1988. Considering the more Reaganite direction the GOP has taken and George H.W.’s credentials, though, I’m guessing that said preemptive tweaks will need to be considerable.

That's not what I said. What I said was that he might concede and get the US involved just this once, but would otherwise opt to keep the US as noninterventionist as humanly possible. Of course, Cold War geopolitics and the American war machine would probably force his hand more than once, but I doubt he'd be as eager to warmonger as, say, G.W. Bush in Iraq.

Well it also depends if he get more than 1 term in office.

I'm not sure whether Paul would be remembered well by the general public, but the rest of the Cold War-era political class might opt for someone to replace him.

Almost certainly. Whether or not there were any additional nuclear accidents due to the greater use of nuclear power.

Nuclear releases net-zero emissions and is arguably far safer than options like coal and oil, is it not? Plus, at least as I understand it, the nuclear waste can be used as yet more fuel for the power plant that produces it (though international compacts seem to prohibit this).
