These images are photoshopped A German E100 tank. In OTL, the prototype was not completed. The German army appendix is now up at the Drake’s Drum website
Well I can see that being very successful, at being a resource sink for the Nazi empire. Even without their OTL WWII experience the US should have air units capable of taking out such monsters which aren't going to be particularly easy to hide, as well as having very limited mobility. Even apart from the slow speed how many roads, bridges etc can take it?

Stevep, yes but at least it would satisfy the Nazi's craving for gargantuan war machines!

If anyone here has read either one of the Drake's Drum books and feels able to give it a good review on either Goodreads or Amazon that would be brilliant.

I had the same problem with Amazon as I avoid buying anything from them if I can at all avoid it. However if you can get onto Goodreads they don't have the same restriction and I was able to post a review for book 1 there.
I got volume 1 via Kobo but just checked again and it doesn't have vol 2 yet. Do you know when its likely to appear please?

stevep, I will try and check on that for you. Thanks for the Goodreads review! Amazon's 'eligibility requirements' means they don't think you've bought enough stuff from them. Ah well, no worries!

So where are the Panther IIs. Great Question! There are no Panther IIs in TTL. The circumstances of Drake's Drum mean the Germans aren't going to use the 'Schmalturm' (small turret) on an E50 chassis. They need a bigger, more reliable gun than the high velocity 75mm the 'Schmalturm' was designed around. The Allies are fielding 20 pounders (84mm), 85 mm and 90 mm guns in their medium tanks. There are OTL drawings of the Panther 'Schmalturm' with an 88 mm gun, but the drawings basically show that it wouldn't fit. Consequently in Drake's Drum the Germans have gone for an E50 chassis with a Tiger II turret because it can be in action quickly, has a powerful gun and won't require much re-tooling. The E50 chassis and body had almost identical dimensions to the Pzkfw VI Tiger II so the turret should be fairly easy to fit. The resultant tank is the standard Wehrmacht medium tank at about 55 tons and is called the E50 Tiger III because it bears a strong resemblance to the Tiger II and uses the same gun. Have a look at the German Army paper on the Drake's Drum website if you have a minute. There's a bit more detail on the E series vehicles generally and the E50 and E75 tanks of TTL.

So, today's writing task for Book 3 (Drake's Drum: The Horizon of Our Hopes); fix the Middle East. How hard can that be?

I also noticed this while saving the manuscript of the final story in the trilogy Drake's Drum: The Horizon of Our Hopes. Two chapters away from a first draft!
