But a lake,lagoon ore a bay can provide that also, ore am i wrong. In the '50s and '60s, there was a school of thought that amphibious aircraft flying from lakes and rivers might be a better option as their 'runway's couldn't be bombed/damaged out of service.
That said, it was a VERY big aircraft I have to think it would have been challenged to dogfight with the likes of the MiG-15 or MiG-17. Great topic, i love the art with them flying over a KGV class.... Regards,

Well it still looks nice, also if you have a jet-propelled fighter flying boat then you also need tenders to support them. |

SARO could license build the Sea Dart as a successor!

I hadn't thought of that, but Norway and Canada would seem to be naturals for a flying-boat fighter...

With the many fjords the SR.A/1 would be a good choice for the Norwegians. |
