 The Metropolis Meteors are a professional American football team based in the city of Metropolis, New Troy. The Meteors compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league's National Football Conference (NFC) East division. The team plays its home games at LexCorp Field in downtown Metropolis, and holds its summer training camp at the Meteors Football Club facility in the Metropoilis borough of Brookline. The Meteors joined the NFL in 1927, and ranks sixth among all NFL franchises with six NFL championship titles: three in the pre-Super Bowl era (1936, 1953, 1964) and three since the advent of the Super Bowl (1975, 1989, and 2016). The Meteors' championship tally is surpassed only by the Green Bay Packers (12), New York Giants (11), Chicago Bears (9) and New England Patriots (7). Throughout their history, the Meteors have featured 26 Hall of Fame players, among them Jim Thorpe Jr., 'Big' Ed Flanagan, Terry Thorpe, Sonny Jurgensen, Brian Piccolo, Jerry Carver, David Kopay, Randy McNeeley, Steve Young, 'Rocket' Ismail, Steve Lombard, Deion Sanders, Tim Couch and Shaun Alexander. To distinguish themselves from the professional baseball team of the same name, the football team was incorporated as the "Metropolis Meteors Professional Football Club, Inc." in 1930. The team's heated rivalry with the Gotham Wildcats are among the oldest of the NFC East rivalries, dating all the way back to 1934. The Meteors have also developed rivalries with their other NFC East divisional opponents, especially the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants. |

They've been referenced from time to time in the comics. Back in the late '80s DC released a book called the DC Atlas that gave real-world locations for the cities and countries featured in the comic books. They also listed the teams for the four major US pro leagues, and it's where I got many of my teams for ITTL's MLB, NFL, NBA and NHL.

The Galaxy Broadcasting System (GBS) was formed in 1949 by a coalition of five northeastern U.S. independent television stations, and by the late 1950s had become the equal of the rival Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) and the National Broadcasting Company (NBC). It is considered to be one of the five major broadcasting networks of the United States of America, along with CBS; NBC; ABC (American Broadcasting Company); and Fox (Fox Broadcasting Corporation).
In 1949, WGBS in Metropolis partnered with WBGC in Boston; WGGC in Gotham; WGNY in New York; and WGPL in Philadelphia to produce news and entertainment programming that would compete against NBC and CBS. The network gradually added affiliates along the east coast and in the midwest while holding off a challenge from the short-lived DuMont Television Network. By 1958, GBS had eight O&Os (owned and operated stations) and 52 more affiliates across the nation and had four of the top five programs in the country. As of 2017 the network owns and operates the original five affiliates, plus stations in Los Angeles (KGBS), San Francisco (KSF), Chicago (WGCO), Star City (KGSC), Central City (KCCG), Louisville (WKYA) and Atlanta (WGBA), and has 225 affiliates in all 52 states, plus the territories of Guam, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Lewis and Clark and Luna.
GBS's world headquarters is in Metropolis, although it has a significant presence in New York City, Washington and Los Angeles, and Morgan Edge is GBS's President and Chief Executive Officer.

Close, but not of the Coast Guard (remember, the NCIS characters, main, supporting and one-offs, exist in this universe. So no show based on Abigail Borin, unless its a reality show... So it's not the Coast Guard Investigative Service, and also not the Air Force Office of Special Investigations... |

Army CID is one of the longest-running American broadcast shows, having wrapped up its 15th season in May 2007. It airs in the United States on the CBS television network, 8 to 9 p.m. Eastern/Pacific time on Tuesday evenings.
Starring Jayne Brook as U.S. Army Colonel Patricia Riggs, Army CID is an action/police procedural television series that has aired on CBS since September 2003. It follows a team of competent and quirky officers, assigned to the Command Intelligence Operations Center (CIOC) in Washington D.C., who investigate crimes involving members of the United States Army and threats to the Army and/or to the United States itself.
Donald Bellisario, an American television producer and creator of the 1980s hits Airwolf; Masters: Naval Investigator; and Quantum Leap, created the series after his previous shows Naval Aviator and First Monday flopped. When it was made clear to him by the U.S. Navy that it would not assist him in making television shows (citing security concerns and Naval Aviator’s two-part episode based on the Tailhook scandal), he found a willing partner in the Army.
Bellisario based the character of Riggs on two real-life investigators from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, and personally cast Brook over three other candidates: Kate Mulgrew, Maria Bello and Rita Farr.
Other actors who have played major roles on the series include Mark-Paul Goselaar (Captain Ricky Watts), Robert Picardo (Captain Wilbert McAdams/Army CID Chief Medical Examiner), Zoe Saldana (Major Katherine ‘Kate’ Harp), A.J. Chegwidden (Colonel Edward Burns, Commander of Army CID) and, later on, Kristoff St. John, Elizabeth Berkley, Lauren Tewes, Paul Telfer, Monica Lacy, Chloe Bennet and Tyler James Williams).
The show has spawned five spinoffs: Army MPG (2006-14), Army CID Parris Island (2009-present), Army Base Luna (2010-15), Army CID L.A. (2012-present), and Army CID Deutschland (2015-present, developed in conjunction with German network RTL).

In real life, lordroel, Hollis Mann was Gibbs's girlfriend in Seasons 4 and 5 of NCIS. In this universe, Hollis Mann was a real person -- and as an Army CID officer, she interacted on a few missions with the NCIS Major Case Response Team out of Washington. She obviously would know Gibbs only by reputation, as he was murdered before Mann met her NCIS counterparts. Incidentially, she was not one of the inspirations behind Jayne Brook's character (although, Hollis Mann did visit the show set a couple of times in 2010 and 2011). |

 The Gotham Wildcats are a professional American football team based in Gotham, New Troy. The Wildcats compete as a member of the National Football League (NFL) in the National Football Conference East Division. The Wildcats, established in 1934, won two Super Bowls (VII in 1973 and XXXIX in 2005), and also won NFL championships in 1942 and 1961. Their Hall of Fame players include Hank Haggerty, Chick Finger, Claude Burgess, Theo Williams, Marcel Rougeau, Jim Tuttle, Darryl Stingley, Bob Griese, Bubba Paris, Greg White and Sterling Sharpe. They have played in the WayneTech Field retractable-roof stadium since 2015. The Wildcats consider themselves to have one chief rival: the intrastate Metropolis Meteors. The rivalry was voted No. 2 overall in a list of top pro sports rivalries by ESPN and No. 2 in the NFL Network’s list of league rivalries. The rivalry once resulted in a 1966 game that was called in the fourth quarter after rioting broke out in the stands at Gotham’s Kane Field, and a near-riot at Metropolis City Stadium in 1983 after both teams engaged in a brawl that spilled into both teams’ dressing rooms and into the parking lot and resulted in 27 suspensions being handed down by NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle.
