Frankly I would agree with the analysis as it seems a distinctly dodgy background. Both for the points he raises and because I can't see Russia maintaining super-power status with its limited demographics and backward political system. A great power in the old meaning of the word if it manages to hold together and probably stronger than any other European power but not a real rival for the US. Also what happened to China. It has some serious problems developing, especially with its political system but while I could see a sharply worsening environmental situation reducing India to chaos its more difficult to see it happening for China, especially on such a relatively short time scale. It would more likely to China fighting the US for resources, probably with a lot of this going on in China.
I suspect on this last point the issue might be commercial. Possibly they don't want China as the 'bad guys' because it would impact on sales in China both with this game and other ones from the company. [Although whether there is a bad and a good guy in this world is difficult to see from the run through. Possibly you can only choose to play the US? If they made it so you could play either side then it could be popular in both main markets?]
Also while it was definitely low on my interest chart already that except of the fighter conflict pushed it even further down. The idea of the pilot of [what is still a fairly advanced] fighter a/c jumping out of it to fire an hand held SAM and destroy the enemy fighter then managing to rejoin his a/c in mid air is so farcical!

Very good summary of the inaccuracy of far more of the video than just that one scene. Thanks. A lot more entertaining than I would find the game I suspect. 
I was trying to find the Templin video to comment I found a somewhat earlier one where they had possible guesses as to what might be the background, see 5 pitches for battlefield 6. Noticed this comment on a line in the video that made me laugh.
Surprise, surprise that comment got over 500 likes.
