To my prosaic knowledge, the CIS-survives-as-a-united-entity path starts with the Separatist Parliament appointing a new head-of-state, a Supreme Commander and other top-tier officials ASAP. But would they be able to hold against the Empire and also they will lose their mysterious backer who is now the emperor of the Empire and who will do anything to remove any thread to him. I'm not sure how important Palps was when it came to backing the Separatist economy or war machine. Assuming that he played little to no role in this regard (which is easily suspect), than I see potential for the CIS to continue the Clone Wars and perhaps ramp up their efforts. Again, the fact that they no longer answer to the Sith means that the Confederate leadership won't have to hold back for the sake of plots, schemes or grand designs that they don't comprehend. |

Wonder if the CIS will build their own version of the Death Star and if the Empire will fast track the building of thief Death Star. That's certainly something that I'd like to see (from an outsider's perspective, BTW). As for the unfortunate quadrillions caught in the ensuing crossfire, everyone loses in a MAD Galaxy.
Beyond that, it may or may not cause OTL-esque Rebels to distance themselves from the Separatists. Then again, the CIS might behave like the Cold War-era United States in this regard; they retain a near-unmatched nuclear stockpile and engage in morally/ethically dubious activities, but nonetheless maintain a better record than the USSR (or rather, Galactic Empire) overall.

I am wondering if those four pieces of the CIS who are separated from each other become different entities all together as there is no way they can support each other, especially if the Empire simply blockades them. |
