What will be the effects on humanity if/when replicator technology comes about?
My first though is an end to world hunger and an epidemic of obesity until things settle down.
But economically, what would happen when the impetus to work is gone?

But economically, what would happen when the impetus to work is gone? Well i would want to say the world economy crashes, but there would be no economy needed if there where replicators who are able to get us everything we need.

Replicators wold mean a post-scarcity economy. There would still be a need for an economy and most functions of a state, but it would be a great equalizer. With state support, any person could have a replicator and consequently a lot of items. The actual expense would be energy (which by then will be easier to extract from renewable sources) and maintenance. There would be still a need for artists, scientists, physicians, etc. Some services, either personalized (e.g., restaurants) or complex (like mass transportation), would require companies, public or private.
