1950
December 27: USAF B-47s of Strategic Air Command begin rotational deployments to airfields in French Algeria and Morocco. Most likely to stay until the French introduce their bombers ore is this a American-French agreement.

For political reasons, the White Russians were channeled into the French Foreign Legion; their forces in exile were very much reduced to token numbers by the outbreak of the Second World War. So no Free Russian Army, i toughed that would be the case, you saying that the where channeled into the French Foreign Legion makes sense.
I wonder, would a possible different option have been some incorporated into Byzantium? Its nearer, which might be important if they still desire to liberate their homeland and also is a fellow Orthodox state.

Doubt any country, especially as small as Byzantium would want to upset the Soviet Union by hosting anything resembling a Free Russian Army.

sdarkshade Interesting developments: A) - "January 9: The Soviet delegation walks out from League of Nations due to ongoing disputes regarding the membership of the German People's Republic." - I was meaning to ask about this on the other thread, as to whether the Soviets had been unwise enough to leave the LoN's, allowing that to declare support for a LoN army to defend S Korea. [Although unless the rules of the LoN have been changed or are different here that needed unanimity for any agreement, rather than the 5 permanent members having a veto with the IN.]
B) - "January 24: Formal arrest of the atomic physicist Klaus Fuchs for espionage in London." I was hoping that given the different circumstances he might not be so stupid and misguided. C) - "March 4: Death of Adam Rainer, 50, the only human to have been both a dwarf and a giant in his lifetime, in Austria." - Now that sounds weird. Does this mean he was a giant dwarf, or a dwarven giant or something else??
D) - "March 20: The Polish Sejm passes a law transferring properties owned by the Roman Catholic Church to the government." - Well Stalin has responded to the pope.
E) - "March 30: Dismissal of the Egyptian Wafdist government by the Sultan and an announcement of new elections." Sounds like things are things are going to get rocky there, although we know they don't explode until 56.
F) - "April 23: The average height of British Army National Servicemen is reported as 5'11"." - Now that sounds bloody tall. I doubt that would be the average height of the modern British male today. Either living standards are much better for the vast majority of people, especially impressive only 5 years after the war, or something other is having an effect.
G) - "April 29: Arsenal wins the FA Cup in 2–0 victory against Liverpool at Empire Stadium." - - since their my 2nd team.
H) - "May 16: Death of Admiral Sir Robert Falcon Scott, 81, the first man to reach the South Pole becoming forever known to the British Empire and the wider world as 'Scott of the Antarctic'." - Well that's a better result for him and his men. No "I'm just going outside. I may be some time" I assume here. Hopefully he got to the pole before Amundsen, rather than the latter replacing Scott in the tragic hero role.
I) - "June 20: Hatching of the first new Soviet dragons since the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution from previously dormant red dragon eggs." - Interesting as that suggests they haven't had new ones before. Or possibly the dragons were loyal to the whites and left with them? With the development of modern technology as well as other aspects of magic were the Soviets greatly limited by having few/no dragons of their own?
J) - "July 16: England wins the 1950 World Cup, defeating Brazil 3-2 in a closely fought final in Rio de Janeiro in front of an incredible crowd of over 320,000." - Well that is going to set a dangerous precedent. Does suggest that the British game hasn't decayed as much during this period as OTL. Going to be interesting in 1953 if Hungary come visiting.
K) - "August 28: The Prince of Switzerland declares that his state will remain neutral in any future European conflict." - Bloody hell, even the Swiss have a monarchy! Now that is a big butterfly. Are there any non-monarchies other than the Soviets and the Americans?
L) - "September 9: Socialists and communists clash in protests in Munich, Hamburg and Berlin over the issue of German rearmament." - Now why do I think Moscow had something to do with this?
M) - "October 2: Two American businessmen are killed by a unicorn in Ireland while attempting to capture it for a San Francisco zoo." - Well either the old legend is false or they were extremely badly prepared.
N) - "October 19: A British SAS detachment in Malaya locates a communist terrorist section at a range of 14,568 yards using a new nocturnal Foefinder." - Is that tech or magic? Sounds rather more like the latter but could be some sort of night vision type equipment, albeit seems unlikely in a jungle.
O) - "October 21: Chinese commandos and South Korean troops clash in North Korea." - Ah well I was wrong there.
P) - "October 27: A KGB attempt to capture Count Dracula leaves 68 dead and an entire city block devastated in Madrid, Spain." - I take it the count has been forced into exile.
Q) - "November 10: A USAF B-29 jettisons a Mark 4 atomic bomb over Quebec, scattering 100lb of uranium in the river below." - Well that will do wonders for US- Canadian relations, especially since its the 2nd time the US has lost a nuke this year.
R) - "November 11: A battalion of Gurkhas drive off an attack by Chinese backed insurgents on several border posts in a night-long battle." Is this somewhere in Malaya, bordering Hong Kong, in Korea or somewhere else?
S) - "November 20: Nationalist politicians make significant gains in local elections across Argentina, emphasising " - This seems to be incomplete?
T) - "November 22: A man is trapped inside Edvard Munch's famed painting 'The Scream' by black magic." - Ouch that doesn't sound good at all. Hope they got him out while he was still sane.
U) - "December 4: The Australian Cabinet votes to declare the Union Jack on a blue ensign the official national flag of Australia." - So no southern cross?
V) - "December 10: Swedish diplomat and humanitarian Raoul Wallenberg is awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in saving Jews from Nazi Germany and assisting in the resettlement of refugees in postwar Europe." - Now that's definitely a better ending than OTL.
Sorry I nearly completed a full alphabet. Some of them are just comments however.
What is the actual situation in Korea? Is there anything left of the N Korean communists and are they still getting Soviet aid? Or is it now just the western powers v the Chinese empire now?

Its a possibility but its a good bit larger than OTL Greece and might find the idea of some additional settlers to secure their border with Turkey. - Have used this idea in a TL I've got where Greece has a much better 20thC.

Steve and Lordroel, I'll have to respond when I'm back from football this evening, butvsome very good comments.
The Argentine bit is incomplete and I'll fix that. Good catch.
I'll bring Korea up to speed to 1951 before the next part of this, to avoid spoilers.

Indonesia,Finland ( i think ore did Prince Frederick Charles of Hesse, the king-elect of Finland remain remain king of Finland), Philippines and i think others but now that i see that Switzerland is also a monarchy i am not sure.

Byzantine Greece is a reasonable sized medium power, but it doesn't have the ability to take on the Soviets.
A.) The Soviet walkout has much the same result as historical.
B.)Fuchs does fall into the trap of many idealists who held certain views of communism. British intelligence is a little better off, as the Cambridge Spy Ring is caught and turned during WW2; there are also very strong hints that the British have a very highly placed agent in the Kremlin.
C.)Adam Rainer is a historical case, having an acromelagic growth spurt in his 20s.
D.)Stalin's response consists of open actions and accompanying repression.
E.)Egypt continues to simmer and threaten to boil over on quite a few occasions.
F.)The height of the average English male in 2012 was 5'10". The Dark Earth difference reflects both improved nutrition and genetic heritage.
G.)I think that was a historical result; Empire Stadium remains its common name.
H.)Scott reaches the Pole first and returns successfully, quite closely followed by Amundsen.
I.)There were some dragons that threw their lot in with the Whites, but the Reds retain a strong force. New dragons is a definite advantage, but take a long time to grow.
J.)England has rather more success in football through the 1950s; in the 1960s, the survival of Duncan Edwards and others will lead to some interesting developments.
K.)The Swiss monarchy was an imposition of a reactionary Congress of Vienna. The USA, the USSR and its satellites, Venezuela, the Philippines, Uruguay, Taiwan, Indonesia, North Vietnam, Guatemala, El Salvador, Santo Domingo, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Yucatan, Honduras, Haiti and Liberia are republics.
L.)Your supposition is quite correct.
M.)Their attempt was very poorly prepared.
N.)The Foefinder is magitech, or a mixture of the two. It is one of several interesting inventions.
O.)The Chinese have an interest in cooperating with the Soviet Union for the time being, leading to intervention in Korea.
P.)The Communist authorities blew up his castle. Dracula is not pleased.
Q.)That particular broken arrow incident is a historical one.
R.)The Gurkha border clash was in Burma.
S.)That should read "emphasising the importance of nationalising foreign owned industries."
T.)The man was rescued, but took a long time to recover.
U.)The Australian flag is the same one from @.
V.)Wallenberg gets the recognition he deserved.

1949 December 29: Discussions begin in Stockholm between Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Icelandic and Swedish delegates regarding a Scandinavian Defence Union. So those this mean Finland does not follow the policy of Finlandization like OTL.

They have to tread lightly, but are not Finlandized to the same extent. There is no Continuation War and the Finns essentially 'win' the Winter War, by lasting long enough to achieve a negotiated peace. The details will come in the Soviet tank article.

December 25: The Emperor of Mexico is persuaded that it would be best to delay an ambitious programme of military expansion and modernisation in the current international strategic environment. Is there a problem then regarding ambitious programme of military expansion and modernisation.
