Appearing fine for me. Looks like Poland and Romania are parts of the Warsaw Pact equivalent and also there are four small 'states' east of Poland and Austria-Hungary. Do they include non-humans by any chance? Other than the existence of Austria-Hungary, Byzantium and of Lyonesse/Avalon and the fact that Ireland is still unified inside Britain the rest of Europe looks pretty much the same.
On the world map, between Britain and the Soviets there is a hell of a lot of Red on the map! British [ or Indian?] protectorates seem to include Tibet and Afghanistan and it looks like Iceland is part of either Canada or the USSR? British Honduras and Spanish Sahara seem larger and there is an independent Patagonia. Cuba might be a protectorate as well, which I suspect the US won't be happy with and Canada has Alaska but the US still seems to have Hawaii. Also a small independent state north of Uruguay. South Vietnam still exists as an independent empire. Probably a few others I've missed or mis-understood. PS I suspect from the colour that China is non-communist although it doesn't seem to be included in the major powers discussion and its lost Sinkiang to the Soviets.
The other thing I notice is what isn't showing. I.e. you said there was an Atlantis and possibly other legendary lands. Also other than possibly a small bit south of Tokyo there doesn't seem to be a 5th island in Japan?
Anyway many thanks for this insight. Have to disappear off to work so probably have another look this afternoon.

The small states of Eastern Europe are: East Prussia/German Democratic Republic, People’s Republic of Galicia, the Democratic Republic of Ruthenia, the People's Republic of Bukovina and the People's Republic of Moldavia. Their populations are largely human.
Not shown on the map: Gibraltar, Malta, Heligoland Minorca and Cyprus are British possessions. Bornholm and the Aland Islands are Swedish.
The United States of the Ionian Islands are a nominal British protectorate, but talks with Greece regarding a union are almost complete.
The small state between Germany and Austria-Hungary is the Kingdom of Ruritania.
The southern and eastern borders of Ottoman Turkey are not shown in this image.
Iceland is an independent state, but is very, very close to Britain and Canada, with the United States also keen on a special relationship.
The Yucatan is an independent state and Spanish West Africa also encompasses Mauritania. Patagonia is Prydain, a Commonwealth Dominion that develops from largely Welsh settlement of the area from the 1830s onwards.
North of Uruguay is Aranguay, a small insular South American state. Amapa, or formerly Portuguese Guiana, is Swedish Guiana, one of the vestiges of the Congress of Vienna. There is also a 6th Central American state, Los Altos.
Cuba is a British colony, having been taken in the Seven Years' War and been largely anglicised over the intervening 200 years. Hawaii is a US state, whereas Russian North America was taken in the Crimean War.
The Baja California peninsula is an independent Commonwealth realm, New Avalon. English influence, pirate settlement and traders stretch back to the time of Drake. grew up out of trading/privateer settlements in the 1600s coming from Drake's exploration of the area in the previous century. After regularly being attacked and burnt out by the Spanish, the main port of Saint George was recaptured in the War of the Spanish Succession and ceded in the Treaty of Utrecht. The border between California and the British territories was unclear for much of the 18th Century before being settled in the 1763 Treaty of Paris. It was the scene of some fighting during the American War of Independence as the Spanish tried to swoop, but their territorial gains were reversed in the Napoleonic Wars. It remained as something of a backwater until the discovery of gold and the US annexation of California; after this time, it developed in something of the manner of a much smaller Southern Canada. It was granted Dominion status in 1892, following on from Canada in 1867 and Australia in 1889. It is seen as the most American of all the Dominions, but at the same time is very English in its identity. The cultural impacts upon California are quite profound - it will have far less Mexican influence after 1848, migration patterns would be different, cuisine will develop differently and quite a lot more.
China is an empire and is one of the great powers of the world; Imperial Chancellor Fu Manchu is quite the diabolical genius.
Atlantis sunk beneath the waves in a great catastrophe around 12,000 BC. The additional Japanese home island of Kai is very heavily urbanised and densely populated, but is still comparatively small.

Almost all of the questions i once asked, you have answerd here, so i have to begin with fresh and hoppfully new questions for you to answer. Does the United States have states who are different than OTL.

Do you mean a small white spot between the two countries then as that's all I can see. Might just be a lake or a small map imperfection but have to see what Sdarkshade says.

Thanks for clarifying. Never heard of it before although my knowledge of the attempted central American union is definitely limited. Find it slightly ironic that with so many monarchies in the dark Earth this small republic manages to survive.
