I went to see Rocketman, the Elton John film, last night. It wasn't very good. I saw a trailer for a film called Yesterday. It looked a bit like an ISOT, sort of. No maybe a different thing but similar. From what I could gather, a guy is sent to an alternate world where The Beatles never existed. Playing all their songs, claiming credit for writing them, makes him suddenly the greatest musician in the world. Maybe it might turn out rubbish past the trailer but the idea was interesting.
Remember seeing ads for it on the TV a while back and as I understand it is basically an ISOT, although presumably a swapped one as nothing else is changed so there was a person identical to him in the non-Beatles universe as he's not someone out of place other than his knowledge. IIRC he wasn't claiming to have written the songs, just couldn't get anyone to accept the existence of the Beatles, at least at 1st and presumably decided not to continue looking like a lunatic claiming a non-existent group wrote them. Apart from the oddity that this new universe is exactly the same as ours other than no Beatles, i.e. no butterflies at all, I'm not sure how well such songs would fit in with 2019 culture? Probably be found good by a number of people but doubt they would catch the mood of the people as they did in OTL 1960's but then its a film for entertainment rather than a serious analysis of what would happen.

I watched Ma at the weekend. Not your average teen slacker flick. It was okay. I also saw a 2016 Norwegian film called Thelma. It was a sort of Carrie but done much, much better.

The Battle of the Sexes came in the post today. I don't like tennis but I do like Emma Stone. I shall watch it tonight and report back.

While I love Horror, it seems that most horror films are bad. Misdsommar looks pretty good though from the trailer.

I went to watch Yesterday last night. It was neither brilliant nor terrible. There was a lot more that could have been done with the idea and I did find the ending cringeworthy. Still, it wasn't a total waste of time.

I saw Men in Black: International last night. Overall, it was...alright, though not crazy epic or totally fantastic IMO.

I hope that in-universe, nothing has happened to the character W. Smith plays or his partner. In fact, I at least think they should get some cameos in future movies even if they don't serve as their protagonists.

Bit disapointed that they are reusing several concepts from the previous but on the other hand it does look like they are going for some different ideas this time. And it does at least look somewhat funny.

I saw Spider-Man: Far From Home today. Not a bad movie, though I liked Avengers: Endgame, for instance, noticeably more.
An alright way to spend the Fourth of July (or the 243rd anniversary of the US Declaration of Independence getting signed), I suppose.

I saw Kursk today: a film about the submarine, not the battle. It was okay I guess. Nothing brilliant. Dark too, maybe a bit depressing.

The Matrix has been re-released in British cinemas. Its 20 years since it came out. I went to watch it last night on the big screen. It was still pretty good, not really dated at all.
