This is basically a TL where you can join along and contribute about a hypothetical Bob Dole presidency run.
POD:The Iran Contra affair is targeted more against Vice President George Bush and less at Ronald Reagan making him look as a still strong but not as strong than OTL candidate.

I don't think this TL changes much. With the good economy and Dukakis weaknesses, Dole wins. I don't think policy wise Dole is much different than GHW Bush. On second thought, maybe not being the son of a President hurt GW Bush's politcal career.

Dole's running mate? How about Sununu? That would certainly win in 88, and might well beat Clinton/Gore in 92. Of course, the butterflies might turn up somebody besides those two. Maybe Tom Harkin, with Ed Koch as VP? Who would win that?
