After running a final systems check Captain Raphael Scordato pops the hatch and becomes the first Olympinaut and Italian to set foot on the moon. “For Il Duce, For the Consul, and for Fascists everywhere,”are the first words spoken by him as his foots set down on the surface.
The 3 crew members then set about placing an Imperial flag upon the moon’s surface alongside a plaque and fasces with eagle. Then singing the Fascist anthem of Giovinezza to commemorate the occasion. The 3 Olympinauts spend the next 5 hours on the surface of the moon alternating their time between conducting scientific experiments and playing even having an impromptu game of soccer on the Lunar surface.
Following the initial broadcast of the live landing Count Lucchini is given the honor of giving the first speech in celebration of the successful landing following shortly after by his father-in-law the Consul.
December 8th 1976
Words of congratulation are sent to Rome from across the goal. Even the Soviet Union praises the NRE on their safe and successful landing on the Moon. Though the Soviet press is sure to state that the NRE did get to the Moon second and 7 years after the United States.

Medici and his family visit Evola at his Roman Villa. The doctors do not give him much longer to live. Medici stays with Evola most of the day even after the rest of his family departs, Medici’s wife and daughters leaving with visible tears in their eyes. Over the past years the family less Evola had virtually been adopted into the Medici family being present at almost all the family gatherings and events.
Later in the day, members of the Grand Council come to visit Evola and he utters to them the following warning “If this body ever fails to elect a warrior to lead it, this Empire will fall and all our work shall be lost.”
December 23rd 1976
Beating the odds, Evola has done as promised and lasted until the Winter Solstice. Doctors are amazed he is still alive and claim that it is like he is holding on by sheer willpower. Foreign pundits will be quick to remark that not so long ago the Italians conducted their own series of bombing raids on Christmas and purposely targeted Churches.
December 27th 1976
Doctors give Julius Evola less than 24 hours to live. His lungs are quickly filling with fluid and there is nothing they can do to stop it. He orders his aides to pull him to his feet so that he may die on his feet like an ancient hero and not in his bed like a sick old man.
Holding himself upright by the windowsill he stares out at the Roman cityscape. Falling several times throughout the day he is quickly pulled back to his feet by his aides and disciples. Slightly before sunset he falls for the last time, death had finally come to claim the Baron but not before he put up a fight.
*Note: Historically, though Evola was paralyzed he insisted on dying on his feet and held himself propped up on the last day of his life.*

Consul Medici calls for a day of mourning over the death of Evola. “A more faithful servant to the state and to Fascism you will never find.”
December 29th 1976
In accordance with Evola’s wishes he is not given a Catholic funeral instead his followers perform a rite more similar to that of the ancient Romans. His devotees take part in a torchlight procession throughout the city at night before the ritualistic cremation of the body.
Medici is criticized for allowing and participating in the pagan funeral but defends himself against detractors saying that what he has done was not as the leader of a nation but as a friend honoring another friend’s last wish.

January 2nd 1977
Major Medici is announced to the public as the new commander of the Jerusalem garrison. The Consul is notably absent at the press conference not wanting the appointment to look like nepotism. Instead, the major is introduced by the Emperor.
In his speech the major declares that he will gives the terrorists no quarter and go “bomb for bomb. Bullet for bullet. Murder for murder.” He takes the quote from George Robert Elford’s book “Devil’s Guard” which is about former SS men fighting with the French Foreign Legion in Indochina. In recent years the book had become quite popular within Italy and throughout the Empire.

Major Medici arrives in Jerusalem under heavy security and takes control of all Imperial forces present within the city. His first order of business is declaring martial law and placing the city on lockdown.
January 7th 1977
The Grand Council meets to appoint a successor to Evola. Numerous names are suggested including that of Silvio Berlusconi, but he is considered to be too far of a divergence from the path set by Evola and also a Fascist only for convenience. In the end Giuseppe Umberto "Pino" Rauti is chosen as the new Minister of Popular Culture.
Pino Rauti had been with Evola since the beginning and considered one of his closest disciples.
January 10th 1977
Viceroy Gritti arranges for the transfer of several platoons of OVRA soldiers to Jerusalem and put under the command of Major Medici.
January 22nd 1977
The military arrests over 100 suspected terrorists in Jerusalem and dismantles a bomb factory in a series of early morning raids. An additional 20 Palestinians are arrested and executed on the spot for being known partisans.

Chapter XLIVI (December 28th 1977 to April 10th 1978)
December 28th 1977
Rome states that they or the Lira Block will not negotiate with terrorists. Unofficially, Egypt is allowed to open a line of communication with the terrorists aboard the ship until a military option is ready.
Egyptian naval vessels establish a perimeter a mile away from the cruise ship. Italian ships are not present to conform with the terrorists demands against an Italian naval presence or they will start killing hostages.
The international community at large condemns the actions of the Palestinians.
December 29th 1977
X MAS units are rushed to Egypt to prepare for an assault on the ship.
Prefect Medici is ordered not to conduct any reprisals against the Palestinians in Jerusalem until the situation is resolved. In the meantime, the OVRA begins gathering names of those who are too be arrested.
December 31st 1977
Using fishing boats X MAS units skirt around the perimeter of the Egyptian blockade observing the terrorists and the ship.
January 2nd 1978
At noon the terrorists execute 5 of their hostages stating that the government in Rome is stalling. They announce that starting the next day they will execute 5 more hostages as of noon and an additional hostage every hour until their demands are met or until they run out of hostages.
January 3rd 1978
Under the cover of darkness two X MAS teams assault the cruise ship. Using helicopters to cover the sounds of the fast attack boats they quickly board the ship and seize control of the engine room and the bridge within 10 minutes. Seven of the terrorists are killed and the rest are captured with no deaths on the Italian side either X MAS or hostages. Gabriele Adinolfi, a young naval officer and handpicked by Viceroy Borghese led the assault.
Moments after the success of the rescue Prefect Medici orders the arrests of over 50 individuals in Jerusalem associated with the plot.
January 5th 1978
Franco Freda’s article “What We Are Fighting For” is published in dozens of newspapers throughout the Lira Block and the world. In the wake of the bombings in Jerusalem, the attempted airline hijacking and the hijacking of the Mediterranean Princess it offers a defense and explanation on why the NRE must stay in Jerusalem. The Italian version (as well as most non-Lira Block versions) is accompanied with 2 pictures, one featuring a wounded Italian soldier being assisted by two of his comrades, this picture is placed side by side with that of three young Italian girls coming out of a church presumably in Jerusalem. Most of the Lira Block nations choose to substitute the photos with their own soldiers and own civilians.
January 12th 1978
It is announced that William Montgomery will conduct another tour of the NRE for the 25th anniversary of his original trip to the Empire. It is widely believed that this will be his last assignment with Time magazine and he is considering retirement.
January 20th 1978
A civilian Podesta is appointed to head the government in Jerusalem. Prefect Medici will stay on as overall military commander and be responsible for the suppression of terrorist organizations.
*Note: Fascism replaced town mayors with the medieval office of Podesta. They are appointed by the Chamber of Fasci and Corporations*
February 3rd 1978
First Lady Rosalynn Carter comments to several journalists that the state of women’s rights in Italy and its non-Italian territories are deplorable and women are treated as third class citizens.
February 5th 1978
Alessandra Medici, wife of the Consul who rarely involves herself with politics chooses to fire back against the American First Lady calling her a “country bumpkin” who has even less knowledge of politics than her husband. Going on she states that women are afforded a place of honor and respect within the Empire and that many women hold positions working with the government.
Alessandra herself is a very educated woman having a degree in history and before her marriage to Salvatore she worked as an assistant to the curators at the Ufizzi.
February 9th 1978
Elections in Monaco lead to the nations Fascist party taking a majority of the seats for the first time in it’s history.
February 12th 1978
Emperor Umberto II meets with Queen Elizabeth II in Switzerland. This marks the first time since World War II that the monarchs of both nations have come together and it is seen as an important first step to a normalizing of relations between the nations.
February 13th 1978
“Stabbed in the back” seems to be the general consensus of the population of France in response to the royal meeting in Switzerland.
February 20th 1978
A referendum is held in northern Cyprus with the primarily Turkish population voting to unify with mainland Turkey.
February 22nd 1978
Though most nations largely condemn the “democratic” annexation of northern Cyprus Rome largely supports the move stating that anything that destabilizes the criminal state of Cyprus is a step in the right direction.
There are small protests in Greece over the Italian response but the police within the pseudo-nation are quickly put down. Even the much weakened Hellenic Council voices a feeble protest stating that is was always Greek and Italian policy to regard Cyprus as rightfully Greek territory.
March 1978
Excerpts from William Montgomery’s latest articles on his new tour of the NRE:
“Retracing the steps of my original journey I arrive in Palermo, Sicily. The old converted military airport has been replaced with a new and modern state of the art international airport that serves as a major hub for travel throughout the African colonies.”
“Rome is much the same as from my first visit to the city. Vespas still fill the street even though the vast majority of the population own cars. The speedy motorbikes are seen as the ‘in’ way for the young to get around...
Propaganda posters are still featured prominently throughout the city and the Empire. While many other nations have all but abandoned artistic posters in order to get their points across the Fascists still embrace it openly and push it forward as an art form. Medici features prominently in many of these posters, though other heros of Fascism are also present. I have seen a few featuring the late Julius Evola telling the people to remember their Roman blood and ethos. There is even one of Count Enrico Fermi superimposed over an atomic symbol and mushroom cloud proclaiming “technology is our greatest weapon.” I doubt that the peace loving scientist would support the message, but within the Empire the dead are made to serve as a symbol.
The most common poster seen on the streets today is one of Consul Medici and Il Duce standing side by side with the caption “Together, we move forward!” I wonder that when the time comes that a future consul is elected who had no connection to Mussolini will they portray him standing side by side with Medici as the esteemed first Consul gives him approval. Or, will Mussolini remain the eternal symbol of approval.”
“To western eyes the oddest thing they will see is the complete absence of shaking hands, at least in the public sphere. Handshaking being regarded as unhygienic and a waste of time has been almost completely replaced by the Roman salute. A system of etiquette exists within the state on how one is supposed to greet others using the salute. The only time one will see two men shaking hands is with dignitaries from non-Lira Block states.”
April 7th 1978
It is announced that Consul Medici will be visiting London in June to begin a process of normalizing relations between the two nations.
April 10th 1978
Excerpts from Montgomery’s article on Jerusalem:
“While Jerusalem has been handed over to a civilian authority it is plain to see that Prefect Medici is still the true power within the city. Soldiers often march down the streets in formation as a reminder to those who would oppose the might of Rome”
“Like many other nations the NRE has had to deal with airline terrorism. Most nations have responded by increasing security at airports across the board. However, Rome has its own solution in a separate and unequal policy. At the airport there are two separate lines for passengers leaving the city one is assigned to those holding ‘Italian, European and American passports.’ The other line is for everyone else. If you are part of the first group you are whisked through with just a nod from the soldiers on guard. As for those not part of this privileged class, there is a more extensive search and investigation and even further discrimination. There is even a class system associated with this line. Most Asians are shuffled through with no incident beyond a cursory look at their passport and perhaps a quick search. This treatment is often given to those holding Lira Block passports. The Empire knows who they are looking for and shows no qualms about profiling.
The line in front of me comes to an abrupt halt. At the front of the line is an Arabic man who speaks in clear and precise English. He is arguing with an Italian soldier and wildly waving his American passport in the air. The Italian soldier calmly tells the man that he doesn’t care and that he belongs in the other line. Another soldier comes by and pushes the man to the side who is still complaining that he is American and should be allowed to pass. As the line gets moving again the soldier apologies to us for the delay...”

Taken from Montgomery’s article on Italian East Africa:
“Italian East Africa is a land of startling contrast and perhaps the most clear cut caste system of any place within the Empire. Italians are obviously at the top of the pyramid and right below them are many newly arrived Imperialized Libyans. Below them are the ‘colonials’ from Somalia, Eritrea and Djibouti who while still segregated from white society and still subject to many of the anti-African laws are given dominance over the Ethiopians whose only use is cheap labor. Even after over 40 years of occupying the former nation the Italians still do not trust the Ethiopians as long as the line of the ‘House of Solomon’ continues to exist.”
“I would imagine that the antebellum south looked very much like the current state of Ethiopia. Large plantations which here mainly grow coffee are run by wealthy Italians from their large villas and worked by cheap Ethiopian labor. Though, the wealth of the Italians is largely artificial. While the farmers do make a large sum of money living in Italian East Africa is expensive. All locally produced goods are extremely cheap thus allowing most of the Italians income to go to buying expensive luxury imports from the Empire proper. The Ethiopians themselves live as they have lived for decades in their native villages only now with running water and electricity. It is a simple existence where they have few luxuries and little time off. However, these small villages are rapidly in decline as Rome encourages the Ethiopians to move away from the villages and into the cities.”
“The contrast of Italian East Africa can be seen most greatly within the cities. Addis Abbas as well as all other large urban centers are clearly divided between Italian and Ethiopian sections with very little overlap between the two except for Ethiopian workers entering into the Italian section to work during the day. It is difficult to tell whether the Italians took this system from South Africa or if it’s the other way around. But, the distinction is clear, the Italians live well with all the conveyances of modern life while the Ethiopians live very frugally. The average Ethiopian lives in an apartment complex where the greatest luxury they possess is a radio. Italians are rarely seen within the black sections of the city and they are policed by native Muslims who keep the Orthodox Christians in line with ruthless efficiency.
The sites that were formerly important to the House of Solomon have been turned into propaganda sites for Italian purposes. The former Imperial residence until recently has served as the seat of the Viceroy of Italian East Africa. However, Viceroy Borghese has chosen to rule the territory from Djibouti so that he may better command the fleet from the massive naval complex there.”

May 5th 1978
Taken from Montgomery’s article on Mozambique:
“The latest acquisition of Rome is still very much Portuguese. Those Portuguese who chose not to leave have all been granted the status of “honorary Italians” and thus colonial citizenship with the condition that they eventually Italianize. The Portuguese since then have been slow in adapting Italian and still prefer their old ways.
Italians themselves are a rarity here. Only 2,000 have chosen to settle within the colony making them an extreme minority and the thousands of others are just tourists enjoying what the Italians call “Summer in the Winter.” In the place of Italian settlers are thousands of Eastern Europeans and Libyans taking advantage of the relaxed Italian policy for immigration to the colony.”
May 8th 1978
Prefect Medici holds a torchlight procession through Jerusalem with the officers reading off the names of those who have fallen in defense of the city followed by the chorus of soldiers shouting “Present” after each name. Upon the completion of the procession the soldiers array themselves in front of the Prefect and report that all men are present and accounted for. The parade serves as a reminder to the inhabitants of the city that Rome is now supreme and will ignore any losses dealt to them.
May 10th 1978
Taken from Mongomery’s article on Rhodesia:
“While not officially part of the New Roman Empire it seemed fitting to end my series in the Empire’s only foreign ‘adventure.’ At any one time there are over 5,000 Italian soldiers within the nation.
Rhodesia and South Africa are both interesting cases being the only members of the Lira Block who claim to whole heartily embrace democracy(though, only whites can vote) and also proclaim not to be Fascist. However, whereas South Africa tries to limit the influence from Rome, Rhodesia embraces Roman help and many detractors claim they are on the way of becoming the next province of the New Roman Empire.”
“The Italians have come a long way in winning over the hearts and minds of the white Rhodesians. While taking pictures of a procession of soldiers a group of teenage girls came rushing towards me asking in broken Italian if I was Italian. When I responded in the negative, they looked very disappointed, then asked if I had been to Rome. When I respond in the affirmative they get very excited and start asking if it is as great as the soldiers making it out to be and if the streets are really paved with marble. I try to explain to them that the Empire isn’t as great as the soldiers make it sound and they have their own problems. To a tee they all steadfastly refuse to believe me.”
“If the Rhodesians generally love and adore the Italians, the native Africans hate and despise them. The Italians here are nothing but cruel to them. Whereas in the Empire colonials are treated as subject people where a meritocracy does exist for one to earn more freedom and power to keep rebellions from occurring, here the Italians don’t care and treat them all as potential communists. Combine this with the fact that all the soldiers stationed here have been chosen for their loyalty to Fascism this makes a dangerous combination.
Walking down the street the Africans often set up makeshift bazaars selling traditional tribal objects and charms. The local police both white and black generally ignore them. However, when these medicine men see the black shirted OVRA approach they scramble to their feet and run. Those too slow are kicked and beaten while being cursed at, called communists, heretics and savages. The white police do not interfere considering it to be a waste of time and any black police present quickly make themselves scarce.
Approaching one the black officers I asked if I could speak with him about the Italians, at first he was confrontational saying “No, bass(boss.) I can’t speak about them.” After convincing him I wasn’t a spy with the OVRA he loosened up and spoke with explaining that except for the rebels the blacks and the white Rhodesians had a basic understanding. They both recognize they share this land together and have to work towards. But, the Italians to the native Africans are seen as “foreign devils” who bring nothing but death and persecution.”

Subsequent Volumes are expected over the next year to get the remaining diaries in circulation.
The book is immediately banned within the NRE and the in-exile Edda Ciano is declared a criminal against fascism.

Bianchi was well known for his humility shunning the limelight and rarely talked about his war years. He is most remembered for his memoirs “A Soldier’s Journey: From Eritrea to the Russian Steppe” which he wrote only after numerous promptings by friends and Fascist officials. Refusing the assistance of a ghost writer the book is rather devoid of the typical Fascist propaganda found in most war memoirs and is considered a respected work by many Western sources to accurately portray the Italian experience in Russia.

April 12 1981
The United States Navy and Grumman (the producer of the F-14) vehemently deny allegations that the F-14 is technologically inferior to the Italian Jaguar. It is the Navy’s defense that the average Italian pilot has hundreds of hours of more flight time and training than the average Iranian pilot. And, that if an American pilot was flying a Tomcat in a combat situation against a Jaguar the outcome would be in favor of the American both in skill and technological superiority.

Medici agrees to support Victor Emmanuel as they have always been good and close friends to the Consul. Privately and more importantly Medici wants the playboy, apolitical, partier on the throne. He would be able to consolidate more power himself without an active Emperor like Umberto or the Duke.
May 13th 1981
Assassins strike at Pope John Paul II gravely wounding him! Mehmet Ali Agca is the primary assassin firing 4 rounds into the Pope before being taken down. Fellow conspirator Stoyan Petkov is tackled by bystanders when he attempted to throw a grenade into the crowd.
Thirty minutes after the attack OVRA officials arrive at the Rome police station where the would be assassins are held and take custody of them and control of the investigation. The Roman Police Chief files a complaint with the government that his department should maintain jurisdiction since the crime wasn’t political or against the state. He quickly withdraws his complaint after being informed that Minister Gritti himself signed the orders for the prisoners to be taken by the OVRA.
May 15th 1981
Under interrogation both plotters admit to their part in the attack against the Pope and give up their fellow conspirators sparking an Empire wide manhunt.
Agca, a Turk claims to have been hired by Soviet agents to plan the assassination. Setting up a base in Bulgaria he put together a group of like minded men. His stated motivation for the crime was to destroy the living incarnation of capitalism.
Petkov, an Italianized Bulgarian and former member of the Bulgarian Colonial Army admits to being an ardent Pagan and was attracted to the plot to “break the back of worldwide Christendom and restore paganism to Europe.”
The news of his pagan allegiance is quickly suppressed by Minister Gritti who also informs Minister Rauti to keep aware of extremism within his sect. Rauti is largely considered the spiritual leader of the Pagan movement within the NRE following the death of Evola.

One of the key issues discussed was how consumers would distinguish higher priced, luxury goods from the cheap goods produced. A deal was struck with the major corporations of Italy that two production stamps would be made. Those produced still in Italy proper and Europe would continue to be branded as made in the New Roman Empire and those new products would be stamped “Made in Italian East Africa.”
June 10th 1981
Consul Medici allows foreign reporters into the inner workings of Mussolini’s tomb to dismiss the outlandish foreign claims that secret rituals took place beneath the tomb. The mainly British and American reporters are led through the tomb and its underground dorms and supply rooms.
William Montgomery, out of retirement for this special assignment wrote for Time Magazine the following:
“....the tomb remains much the same as it had on my previous visits. The effects of millions of visitors a year has not diminished any of its grandeur, following the closing of the tomb every night an army of cleaners and repairmen come out to make it appear as new...One of the first things one will notice as they enter the tomb is the strong smell of flowers and incense. Thousands of pilgrims bring offerings daily ranging from flowers to small trinkets, to plaques, bottles of wine and bread. The massive guest book is replaced nearly daily with praises being lauded on the former dictator. One guest signed with the note, ‘the most fascist Fascist of Gragnano...’ While a trip to the tomb is a once in a lifetime event for many, some come weekly, even daily. An old man told me that he comes to best contemplate his life here in this place of respect and honor remarking ‘You will never find a more sacred place. Here everyone is equal before the Duce. Over there a Catholic Priest speaks of the martyrs of Fascism and their service to the Duce. And, look there an Imam pays his respects to him as the Protector of Islam! Past him, those men are Pagans, honoring him and the ancient gods. No where in the world but here will you see that together...’
Like dorms any other place the dorms of the Praetorian Guard are filled with posters and plaques and other signs of life and interests, but unlike the typical dorm of soldiers or any man in their 20's you will find no pictures of scantily clad women here instead they are Fascist slogans and Roman and Italian heroes. Anything that would dishonor the image of Mussolini is banned and the guardsmen are under orders to abstain from alcohol and tobacco for the duration of their tours. They are almost completely cut off from the outside world and live monastic like lives....Over the bed of one guard is a plaque which reads ‘God created Il Duce before the world. After you, dear emperor, only darkness.’ I’m sure Consul Medici would sorely disagree with the man’s sentiment.
Being sacred ground no souvenirs are sold within the tomb. That doesn’t mean there are no sales of memorabilia. Outside of the tomb are nearly two dozen stands selling everything from Mussolini t-shirts to statues and portraits and everything in between. As a matter of practice all the vendors permits are given to disabled war veterans. Enzo, an Easter War veteran missing two fingers told me how being a vendor outside the tomb was the greatest thing to ever happen to him, “I’m not greedy but I make more money here than I would doing anything else. Some of the vendors are so greedy trying to get every last lira possible. They open early in the morning with the tomb and only close when it closes. And, when the tomb is open all day and night for the holidays they stay open! I come at 10 and by 2 I close. When it rains, I don’t come in. I don’t need too.”

June 18th 1981
Medici announces a new program for the natives of Italian East Africa which will allow anyone to move from their native village to a city and be given an apartment and free appliances if they agree to take a job in the soon to be built factories.
June 20th 1981
Taken from Montgomery’s latest article on Italy before returning home:
“It would be unfair to visit the tomb commemorating Mussolini’s burial without the one honoring his birth. So, I find myself in the little town of Predappio, with a population of around 6,000 they service over 1 million visitors a year. Taken a line from my previous article they are the ‘most fascist Fascists’ of the Empire. With over 90% of the adult population belonging to the National Fascist Party no other area in the whole Empire can claim such an astounding number.
This was not always the case though, throughout the earliest days of Fascism Predappio was a center of Socialism and Communism. However, over the years migration and just the general fact that the town’s entire economy is based on veneration of Mussolini the population has become more and more radically fascist. That is not to say that everyone is happy with the current state of affairs. An old socialist now in his 80's who agreed to speak with me on the condition he remained anonymous has nothing but disdain for the Duce. ‘It’s abusrd’ he says ‘they come here and treat the man like a god. The Duce this, the Duce that! They call him founder of the Empire, Defender of the Faith, enemy of communists! They all forget he started off a Socialist Republican who hated the church!’
Minor voices of occasional dissent aside the town, it’s inhabitants and visitors are almost completely pro Mussolini. Thousands visit the shrine of the birth daily, then embark on tours throughout the town seeing such locations at his childhood home, still occupied by members of the Mussolini family, his school and other sites of interest in the life of the young Mussolini. Relatives of Mussolini are prominent citizens of the town with many owning gift shops and a nephew of the dictator serving as the town’s mayor...the fascist faithful come here for important events in their lives, weddings, graduations and baptisms with many fascist couples wanting to have their children baptized in Mussolini’s home town to have some of the Duce’s spark or spirit present at this holy event forgetting that Mussolini himself was never baptized in the local church and would not become a Roman Catholic until he was made dictator.”

The French government agrees immediately and offers the UK their full resources for retaking the islands. Likewise, the United States also offers the UK weapons and intelligence support. Though US intelligence analysts are quick to point out that they believe the recapturing of the Falklands is a military impossibility.
NOTE: In this timeline the Soviet Union does support the resolution against Argentina for the simple reason because it believes that the resolution and a possible coalition against Argentina will destabilize the Lira Block and weaken the NRE’s position.
April 4th 1982
The Lira Block votes to give their moral support to the Argentina in their struggle to reclaim their ancestral lands. The only vote against the resolution comes from Spain. Privately, several countries of the Lira Block promise renewed arms sales to Argentina. Notably, though, military intelligence within the NRE believe that Argentina will lose the war and do not have the capacity to stand up to Britain in a one-on-one fight.
April 5th 1982
The British begin to quickly mobilize a task force to reconquer the Falklands. Because of concerns over possible Italian intervention the Royal Navy decided to keep their two largest carriers in the northern hemisphere and is only deploying two smaller carriers with the task force.
April 10th 1982
The trial of the Patras communists begin.
April 12th 1982
The NRE prepares for possible British and French aggression and puts most of its fleet to sea.
April 17th 1982

Not really been following this but that last point is very odd!! Canada has been largely independent since 1867 and had most of remaining British influence removed after the 1931 Statue of Westminster.
Not surprised that a fascist dictatorship in Italy that survived the war would support imperialism in the Falklands. Even so and know this is a wank for fascist Italy too open a support could bring the entire Italian empire crashing down if it meant war with Britain and its allies.
